Life expectancy varies greatly from country to country depending on dietary intake and the climate, technology and the state of the governing bodies and infrastructures. In most economically and politically stable countries in these modern times, the average life expectancy is over 70 years. This is incredible when you think that in the early 1900s, life expectancy was roughly half this. Men are more likely to smoke and drink and do the dangerous jobs. Is it biological? Women are geared to whether physiological hardship to get them through childbirth and monthly menstruation. What will become of our aging population? Karen Dunnell: More people will have a grandmother won't they for longer? Many people will be able to live family life with different generations and of course many older people are working, they are providing help for families and also of course doing quite a lot of voluntary work. So I think there are many benefits to families in particular. Female: Services and infrastructure are changing to cope with the increasing numbers of elderly. Life should be more comfortable and interesting for those in their twilight years as they become a world priority. Eating three or more square meals a day is a vital importance to the body’s health and well-being yet more and more workers are sacrificing lunch for that all important work deadline. Nobody quite knows what the future ramifications of this cultural shift will be but it doesn’t bode well. Workers in the UK and USA are the ones who are most likely to scoff something quick and easy at the desk. Spain, France and Italy still have lovely hot sit-down lunches where time is taken to relax and communicate. So what if it means you work a little later? You’ve socialized during the day anyway. The Germans still do lunch well. Lunch has always been the main meal of the German day. Auburn—in the evening is just a light sandwich and a soup affair. If you skip your midday meal, you’ll be ravenous and prone to snacking by home time. You may be attracted to a large fatty meal wit dessert when it comes to dinner time. Eating this kind of rich food prior to sleeping places a great strain on your digestive system. Because you haven’t used any of the energy, it just maybe starts away as extra kilos for later. If you must eat lunch on the run, choose wisely. A bento box is a wiser choice than a fat dripping burger with fries on the side washed down with half a liter of coke. French woman Jeanne Calment is credited with living the longest life, making it to 122.
